Bee*R Rev Limiter

Bee*R Rev Limiter

In this post we will be showing you how to install a Bee*R Rev Limiter type B in your RB25DET S1 Engine, now this may also apply to other RB engines and we will post up the ecu pin outs to compare.
Disconnect the battery, Ground or Positive cable.
Wait 10 minutes with the head light switch in the ON position to drain any power left in the system
Remove ECU from location in passenger foot well

Remove connecting plug from ECU

Splice each wire into the correct position. We recommend soldering the connections and covering them with heat shrink or liquid tape, we used heat shrink. It is way less messy!!

The Wiring diagram according to the instructions is as follows:

ECU PIN: 49 Red wire: 12V+
ECU PIN: 50 Black wire: Ground
ECU PIN: 41 Yellow wire: Cam Angle Sensor (120 Degree)
ECU PIN: 42 Green wire: Crank Angle Sensor (1 Degree)
** Please note that some people prefer to get their 12V+ source and Ground source from elsewhere. We chose to splice into the ECU for easy of install **
Here are the ECU PIN outs curtsy of http://www.wiringspecialties.com/ecu-pinouts/
Our engine is an RB25DET and this is what we read off of.
Here is the RB20DET Pin out and you will notice they are basically identical.

Refit the plug to the ECU

(This next section is something we did not follow because we purchased the Bee*R 25th Anniversary Version and does not come with these wire but instead has 4 Switches.)

Cut the appropriate wire for your engine
4Cyl = Cut Grey Wire
Rotary Engines: Cut Brown Wire
6Cyl = leave all wires intact.
The white wire is used to set REV2 RPM. Bee*R recommends that you use this as a launch controller by attaching the wire to your handbrake. We used a momentary push button to send a Ground signal to the white wire to activate the REV2 RPM. Example: Hold the button down, then the REV2 will be the rev limit.

Confirm that all wires are connected properly, then reconnect battery.

Start the car up (Car will not start if Green and yellow wire on ECU are connected wrong way round).

Make sure that both REV1 and REV2 are set to 0 and rev the car and confirm that it limits at the factory setting.

Change REV2 settings and confirm that the limit changes when handbrake/switch is engaged. Video of us testing the REV2 setting. The GAIN was set to F.

Mount the unit to a place of your liking

NOTES:
Most limiters are Type B. this means that the variable limit is:
0 2500
1 3000
2 3500
3 4000
4 4500
5 5000
6 5500
7 6000
8 6500
9 7000
A 7500
B 8000
C 8500
D 9000
E 9500
F 10000

REV1 is the normal rev limit and REV2 is the limit when Handbrake/switch is engaged.

GAIN sets the frequency and length of cut. the lower the number the quicker the cut. e.g. 1 = bababababa F= BANG!!!......BANG!!!...... IF you set the GAIN to 0 the limiter wil not function.

If you would like to purchase this unit, please get in contact with www.tunedjapan.com  as they are an authorized dealer and will have the real unit.

**WE WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR WIRING OR ENGINE ETC. PLEASE DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!! IF YOU DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE PLEASE CONTACT US AND WE WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO INSTALL IT FOR YOU**

We purchased ours from frsport and while they seem to have a good source for them they are not an authorized dealer unfortunately. Again, please reach out to www.tunedjapan.com to get yours as they are 100% authorized. There are plenty of fake ones out there so please be careful!!

This is the guide we used and it worked for us. We changed a few things to match our specific install. Here is the original site to give credit to the original author: https://www.driftworks.com/forum/threads/bee-r-rev-limiter-fitting-guide.76001/

We also used some supporting documents from www.tunedjapan.com

For the switches, i have an SR and i shut off 2&3 and it operates as it should. Assuming the RB/JZ motors youd leave em all “ON”
